  • 4 sturdy burger buns, lightly toasted

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground chicken, panko breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, about 3 minutes.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a 4-inch round patty about 1/2-inch thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking. Place on a plate or baking sheet.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Lightly spray or brush both sides of the patties with olive oil.
  5. Arrange patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overlapping. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through at 5 minutes.
  6. Check the internal temperature with a kitchen thermometer; it should reach 165°F (74°C). If needed, cook in 1-2 minute increments until done and crust is golden and crispy.
  7. Remove patties and let rest for 2-3 minutes to redistribute juices.
  8. Toast buns if desired, then assemble burgers with patties and your favorite toppings.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to maintain crispiness. Pat the chicken mixture dry if too wet before forming patties. Use a thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to 165°F (74°C). For gluten-free, substitute breadcrumbs with almond flour or gluten-free crackers. For dairy-free, omit cheese or use plant-based alternatives. Rest patties after cooking for juicier results.
