Crispy Air Fryer Hot Dogs

A quick and easy recipe for perfectly crispy and juicy hot dogs made in the air fryer, ready in just 10 minutes with minimal mess and fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 standard-sized hot dogs (beef, pork, or turkey)
  • 4 hot dog buns (classic or whole wheat)
  • Olive or avocado oil spray (optional)
  • Optional toppings: yellow mustard, ketchup, relish, diced onions, shredded cheddar cheese, sauerkraut

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it warm up for about 3 minutes.
  2. Lightly spray or brush the hot dogs with a bit of oil to encourage browning (optional).
  3. Place the hot dogs in a single layer in the air fryer basket with space between each for air circulation.
  4. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the hot dogs halfway through at around 5 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  5. While the hot dogs cook, warm the buns in the oven, toaster, or microwave for about 30 seconds to soften.
  6. Place the cooked hot dogs in the buns and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Flipping halfway through cooking helps achieve a crispy exterior on all sides. Oil spray is optional but recommended for a golden-brown finish. For thicker hot dogs, add 1-2 minutes cooking time; for frozen hot dogs, add 2-3 minutes and watch closely. Toast buns separately to avoid sogginess. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
