A bright, thirst-quenching homemade version of Starbucks’ passion tea lemonade that’s quick, easy, and perfect for summer. Made with passion fruit herbal tea, fresh lemonade, and passion fruit syrup for a crisp, tangy, and floral refreshment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 passion fruit herbal tea bags (or hibiscus tea bags as a substitute)
  • 4 cups (960 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) fresh lemon juice (about 45 lemons, freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup (100150 g) granulated sugar or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 3 cups (720 ml) cold water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) passion fruit syrup or passion fruit juice
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Optional: sparkling water for a fizzy twist (replace some cold water with sparkling)
  • Optional: fresh lemon slices or mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the 4 passion fruit herbal tea bags into a large heatproof pitcher.
  2. Pour 4 cups (960 ml) of boiling water over the tea bags and let steep for 10 minutes until the water turns a deep reddish-pink color.
  3. While the tea steeps, squeeze fresh lemons to get 1 cup (240 ml) of juice.
  4. In a separate bowl or jug, combine the lemon juice with 1/2 to 3/4 cup (100-150 g) granulated sugar or simple syrup. Stir vigorously until the sugar dissolves completely.
  5. Add 3 cups (720 ml) cold water to the lemon mixture and mix well. Adjust sweetness if needed.
  6. Remove the tea bags from the steeped tea, gently pressing to extract flavor. Let the tea cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  7. Pour the lemonade mixture into the tea and stir to combine.
  8. Stir in 1/2 cup (120 ml) passion fruit syrup or juice to add fruity flavor.
  9. Add plenty of ice cubes to the pitcher or directly to glasses.
  10. Garnish with lemon slices or fresh mint if desired and serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 4 hours before serving.

Notes

Use good-quality tea bags like Stash or Tazo for best flavor. Passion fruit syrup adds sweetness and concentrated flavor; juice alone can be used but may be less sweet. For a sparkling twist, replace some cold water with sparkling water just before serving. Adjust sugar to taste or substitute with honey or agave syrup for different sweetness profiles. Steep tea for exactly 10 minutes to avoid bitterness. Fresh lemon juice is preferred over bottled for brightness. Store in refrigerator up to 4 days; add ice or sparkling water just before serving to avoid dilution.
