This savory crab rangoon pizza combines the crispy, creamy goodness of a crab rangoon appetizer with the cheesy comfort of a pizza. Ready in 30 minutes with simple ingredients, it’s a unique and crowd-pleasing weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade, at room temperature)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 8 ounces lump crab meat (or imitation crab, chopped)
  • 3 green onions (thinly sliced, white and green parts separated)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced, or ½ teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (low-moisture, part-skim)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Sweet chili sauce or duck sauce (for drizzling or dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place a rack in the middle position. If you have a pizza stone, put it in the oven now to heat up. Otherwise, line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the crab rangoon filling: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped crab meat, the white parts of the green onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
  3. Stretch the pizza dough: On a lightly floured surface, stretch the dough into a 12-inch round. If the dough keeps snapping back, let it rest for 5 minutes. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Assemble the pizza: Spread the crab rangoon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the filling.
  5. Bake the pizza: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown in spots.
  6. Finish and serve: While the pizza is baking, mix the melted butter with the sesame seeds (if using). As soon as the pizza comes out of the oven, brush the crust with the butter mixture. Sprinkle the green parts of the sliced green onions over the top. Let the pizza cool for about 3 minutes before slicing. Drizzle generously with sweet chili sauce or serve it on the side for dipping.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese and let it come to room temperature. To prevent a soggy crust, don’t overload the center with filling and use the mozzarella as a protective layer. Baking at a high temperature (450°F) helps the crust get crispy. Have the butter mixture and green onions ready before the pizza goes in the oven so you can garnish immediately. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven or air fryer for 5-7 minutes.
