Virgin Strawberry Mojito

virgin strawberry mojito - featured image

A quick and refreshing non-alcoholic summer drink combining fresh strawberries, mint, lime juice, and sparkling water for a light and lively beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda, chilled
  • Ice cubes, crushed
  • Optional: fresh lime slices and whole strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter about 1 cup of ripe strawberries. Gently rinse 10-12 fresh mint leaves and pat dry.
  2. In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add strawberries, mint leaves, and 1 tablespoon of sugar or simple syrup. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently press down and twist to release juices and oils, being careful not to over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Pour in 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice and stir lightly to combine with the muddled mixture.
  4. Fill the glass with crushed ice, packing it tightly but leaving room to top off.
  5. Slowly pour 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled sparkling water or club soda over the ice to keep the fizz.
  6. Use a long spoon or stirrer to gently combine all elements without flattening the bubbles.
  7. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint, a lime wheel, and a whole strawberry on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint leaves to avoid bitterness. Use freshly squeezed lime juice for best flavor. Crushed ice chills faster and dilutes slightly for balance. Prepare the muddled mixture up to 24 hours ahead and add ice and sparkling water just before serving to keep fizz fresh.
